As my son has been going through the different healing components from his PANDAS disorder it became apparent that an alternative type of treatment was necessary.
We have tried many different types of prescription medications to help treat my son. Everything from SSRI's to Anti-Psychotic Medications. He has had very adverse side effects to these medications. In some cases the prescriptions actually made his symptoms worse.
I'm not saying that all prescriptions medications are ineffective. Prescriptions are a vital treatment for many different illnesses. All I can do is tell you what has worked for my son... Because of the dire situation that we were in, we made a decision to find a doctor that would consider using medical cannabis for our son.
This treatment has had one of the most profound positive effects on his recovery.
We have two different types of medications that we are giving him. One is medical cannabis in a capsule form that we give him once every 24 hours. The other is a tincture/liquid drops that we put under his tongue if he is having a lot of anxiety. The drops are helpful because they are administered sublingually which means the medicine enters the blood stream very quickly.
Recently a producer from ABC 20/20 contacted me through the medical cannabis doctor I am working with. This producer is doing a show on the treatment of special needs children with medical cannabis.
20/20 was at our home for three days taping. It turned out to be very good footage that shows my son's behavior prior to and after being treated by medical cannabis.

Some people may question why we have mad this decision to treat our son with medical cannabis. I hope that other parents are not backed up against a wall like I have been. I feel like we were left with no other choice but to try this natural treatment and I have absolutely no regrets. I cannot recommend that other's do this for their special needs children. I can only tell you about my experience and what has worked for my child.

An Afternoon At The Beach...
The above picture is of my son. It was taken 24 hours after we started him on his first dose of medical cannabis. he was not able to go to the beach for almost a year before this day. He has been terrified of a tsunami coming that would wash us all away. Before this day (for about the past year) he was absolutely incapable of being in the sand. He hated the feeling of the sand on his skin. It is nothing short of a miracle that a boy who is so afraid of the feeling of sand on his body would let us bury him up to his face! What a beautiful moment...
